What does Crowley mean by "Bliss"? If I'm understanding him correctly, he's using the term to refer to the sefira of Hokhma, but unless he's using the word in a very technical sense, I think his understanding of that sefira diverges significantly from the Jewish understanding.

He is probably referring to Binah there.

Thanks. In that case, I'm even more surprised by the use of "Bliss," since the English word denotes an emotion or sensationβ€”neither of which are features of Binah.

Oren, Orthodox Kabbalah is not always going to line up with Hermetic Qabalah. We’re doing fan fiction like we are with Christianity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermetic_Qabalah

I love a good ghost story but so far I've found nothing about that area ... except links to some of Carlson's own statements. I'll check in again if anything substantial turns up. As you say, Pan isn't confined to Greece, and it's entirely possible that nothing is haunting the woods up there - it's haunting *him.*

Anyway this would wholly explain how he went from being a reasonable and articulate commentator to ... whatever he's doing now. I thought it was odd how quickly he changed. Or perhaps he didn't change so much as this has brought out the worst in him.

I was really expecting to find something about the area. Please do let me know if you find anything. There is certainly plenty of spooky Maine stuff as you’ll find in every state, but I just couldn’t come across anything that seemed like it could be tied to where Tucker’s house is at. I could’ve dug deeper, and there may be more there, but if there was as much as Tucker claimed then it would’ve been easy to find in a Google search.

All these years there’s just been this internal chatter on the Right of β€œwhat happend to Tucker? Is he getting paid by some government? Does he have mental health problems?” It’s still a mystery.

Well, I think the demonic possession hypothesis should be considered.

I’ve argued this for a number of years now that really intense expressions of antisemitism are potentially evidence of demonic possession. I had no idea that Crowley made such a direct connection between Pan-Devil-Antisemitism, though. I certainly knew the Pan connection, but seeing Crowley mention the blood libel shocked me as I was putting the piece together.

Aside from his own statements, I've found nothing but what I'd consider the usual backwoods spooky stories. I live in the woods, and weird stuff is not out of the ordinary. Even if a predator were stalking him, Maine's own Wildlife and/or Forestry sites would have warnings posted.

I wondered for a while if he was simply on drugs. The sheer maliciousness of his behavior didn't seem at all like a normal human thing.
