Did you hear about ICE's detainment of an actual U.S. citizen in Florida today?

Great post. A few years ago I went to the Hotel Roosevelt, the main migrant processing center in New York, for a story. I remember talking to these sweet young Venezuelan guys idling on their bikes waiting to do deliveries and I think about guys like them at that place. As for your stupidity thesis, yes, absolutely, but also my more sinister interpretation is that this is a strategic "fuck you" to the judiciary that he plans to abuse on a wide swath of issues including running for a third term.

Another point is that we have prisons in the US. We have a whole justice system here. Why send people to El Salvador? They don't play by the same rules. You can get away with more. It's obviously unconstitutional, the supreme court rules 9-0 that Trump had to try and get Garcia back. He is refusing to even try. In the process he spoke about El Salvador building more prisons so he could send more people there including US citizens.

I think the much talked about looming constitution crisis is here. What do we do? It can't be the Democrats going alone, as long as the response is seen as partisan nothing will really change. This is what the Trump administration is counting on. How many constitutional crisises do we need before the anti-Trump movement becomes more broad? Does the economy need to crash? At what point will people care enough?
