All true. Though as a father to young kids, I find that I prefer TNG as a source of moral example. I'll wait until they're at least twelve years old or so before showing them DS9.
Thanks, Daniel! I too like TNG and realize that DS9 would not have come into being without it. One big thing--we would not have had the new and improved enemies/friends, the Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, etc.

That sounds about the right age for DS9 - isn't that about how old Jake Sisko and Nog are at the start?
