I'm ashamed to say, I've not paid much mind to the lives of fellow Jews, Israelis, ejected from Gaza, as some concession to a road toward peace. Ehud, your story struck me with force. The underreported accounts of the many Israeli's who were moved off their lifetime homes in Gaza, to allow some self-determination for the Palestinians, need to be bought to light. The sacrifice you made to allow for this...... An option they abused, and abused..... The mob mentality of headline bites constantly published and disseminated, echoes of jihadist rhetoric is embraced.... while these very relevant, important human stories lay quietly. Thank you for bringing this to light
Thanks Hans. Whenever I write about violence coming from Gaza I drift back to that time and place. Scratching a scab that will not go away. What the supporters of the move called "the disengagement," will always be for us "the expulsion."
I remember seeing news reports of Israeli's being forced from their Gaza homes by Israeli authorities. It was supposed to placate the inhabitants of the Gaza strip. We now know that nothing can mitigate the hatred of Hamas for Israel. It's irrational, sick and counterproductive. Spending many millions of dollars and years of building tunnels who's only goal is to murder Jews. They could have used the money to build schools, hospitals, hotels, etc. Such elemental hatred cannot be reasoned with, only destroyed, as Israel is doing. Stay safe and be well.
