I am simultaneously sorry for the dissolution of your marriage, but incredibly grateful for this piece: I sent it over to a friend who is going through a divorce, so has been laughing at my “fortune cookie, Socrates schtick” for months now, as I try to get him to see the absurdity in his wife’s delusions. (Note: he has blame in the relationship, but at least his are rooted in reality and not the clouds)

For me, the gas lighter was my mother with my father as the enabler (ah, the psychological damage your parents can do), so I understand how hard it can be to unplug from the matrix - once you do, you fare far better when you learn to laugh instead of cry 😉

Thank you so much, that means a lot to me. I hadn’t thought at all that other people going through divorce might feel helped by this. Or even that there could be other people in a similar spot, of a divorce being driven by supernatural delusions.

To add: the divorce has been fanned further by the mother-in-laws mutterings, and input from other ancestors so I guess you could call that supernatural - it is Halloween after all. Anything goes.

His wife has been going on midnight walks to commune with the moon.

It would almost be comical, if I didn’t talk to the moon from the comfort of my backyard 🫣

So is she now regarding herself as a witch too?

Well… whether or not she is, is up for spirited debate.

What my brain did with that question however 🤣
